How Did British Cheer Dad Begin?
British Cheer Dad (BCD) began in 2014 and was founded by Darren Geddes; a passionate cheer dad. Darren began posting videos from cheer competitions on twitter and quickly picked up a number of followers. Now, team BCD has expanded to six people who keep the UK cheer community updated across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. Make sure you are following BCD for all the latest news and updates.
Meet the team:
Darren, the founder of BCD, has been involved in cheer for 14 years when his daughter took up the sport, from which he went from parent to chairperson of the team at that current time. In the past 3 years, Darren has not only established BCD but works closely alongside programmes of all sizes and athletes of all levels to help grow UK cheer.
Chloe-Louise currently competes for RSD Legends IOC5 and RSD Envy AG4. Chloe-Louise had the amazing opportunity of representing Team Wales at the ICU World Championships in 2017 to which she will be returning in 2018. Chloe-Louise will be keeping you up-to-date with cheer news on social media and will be there to meet you all at competitions.
Ella is an athlete on Bournemouth Elite where she has spent the last few seasons on their Large Senior 1 team. Ella is now Captain and competing with their AG3 group stunt. Ella is looking forward to her future as a BCD team member so keep an eye out for her on social media and at competitions.
Emily is currently a cheerleader on Nitros Elite and has previously competed on Coed 4 and Coed 5 teams. Emily also competed with Team England ParaCheer who took home gold at the ICU World Championships in 2017. This year, Emily is taking on the new challenge of Team England ParaCheer HipHop. Emily will be representing Team BCD at competitions as well as posting cheerleading news on social media.
Lily was a cheerleader for 10 years with Unity Allstars before hanging up her nfinitys to persue her veterinary career. Lily now enjoys following her younger sister’s cheerleading journey. Lily’s will be sharing her cheer news, gossip and advice on Team BCD’s social media.
Vicki started cheerleading at University for the UH Sirens and quickly fell in love with the sport. She was lucky enough to compete at the USASF World Championships in 2017 with Casablanca Cheer Cosmic 5. Now, Vicki works away in the background on the marketing and development of Team BCD.
